Denise Takakjy, Therapist DE PA NJ

I’m a licensed counselor, educator, researcher, and writer. My work is rooted in cultural humility and relational safety, and in honoring the wisdom people carry in their bodies, families, and histories. I don’t see healing as something a therapist “fixes.” Healing grows through connection, clarity, and understanding your experiences within the world that shaped them. My approach comes from years of clinical practice, teaching, and research on trauma, identity, family systems, and the ways social structures influence emotional health. I pay attention to power, culture, and context. I name what’s happening in the room. I’m transparent about my role
and the limits of therapy. And because therapy is a human relationship, I stay committed to repair when harm happens.
I work with young people and adults who want honesty, warmth, and depth. I’m especially drawn to clients who’ve carried too much for too long, who are sorting through identity questions, or who are trying to interrupt patterns they didn’t choose.
Outside the therapy room, I write about reflective practice, racism, oppression, whiteness, emotional attunement, and how we can show up with more presence and accountability. My work is grounded in curiosity and the belief that people deserve spaces where they can breathe.
