Strong Kids Skills Group
A Virtual Group
The Strong Kids Group curriculum is designed for kids in 3rd through 5th grade (approximately 8 to 12 years). It is designed to be a prevention and early intervention program that teaches kids social emotional skills and assets that promote resilience and mitigate risks in children. This program is effective for kids who are at risk for social and emotional problems or who are struggling with social and emotional difficulties.
During this time of development, kids experience a multitude of changes including increased academic task demands, increased expectations for independence and organization, complex social relationships, and confusing emotional experiences. Stressors experienced during this time include family problems, parental marital conflicts, peer acceptance or rejection, and increased expectations at school and in the community.
This group is designed to increase kids’ awareness of their social and emotional worlds and teach skills to effectively manage both situations while having fun and engaging in activities that support their academic, social, and emotional learning.
Kids in this group will learn:
- To understand their own emotions
- To understand other people's emotions
- To deal with anger
- To think clearly
- Problem solving
- Stress management
- Positive living
- Goal setting
This is a 12-week group that runs on Saturdays at 11:00 am for 60 minutes. Next Group begins January 2021. The cost is $420 ($35 per week for 12 weeks) and includes all materials. An intake will be required to make sure that this group is appropriate for your child.
